2017 Year in Review

Posted by Conor Carlin on 3:30 PM on January 8, 2018

It's been a bit quiet on the blog front over the past few months, though not because we haven't been busy. As anyone in the plastics industry will attest, 2017 was a bumper year due to low feedstock prices, strong global economic performance, and continued growth in consumer demand. In fact, a recent interview with the American Chemistry Council (ACC) suggests that we are on track to see sustained expansion in production capacity for several years. Stretching back to the K 2016 event, we have seen steady increases in orders for all HYTAC materials especially our market-leading B1X product. With all of the major OEMs reporting continued long lead times for machinery and tooling, it seems safe to say that 2018 will pick up where 2017 left off.

It's been quiet on the blog front for a few weeks now, but that doesn't mean we've been sitting around at the beach all summer. Industry reports continue to show plastic packaging is on the rise, with thermoformed parts contributing to overall growth. Posted by CMTUpdate on 9:18 AM on April 27, 2017

If April is the cruellest month, then May might be the busiest (in 2017, at least). We'll be exhibiting at Chinaplas 2017, the world's 2nd largest plastics exhibition, held this year in Guangzhou. With HYTAC plug materials running in at least 6 different machines, we are looking forward to learning about the latest trends in Asian markets. CMT releases new product sizing chart

Posted by Conor Carlin on 2:46 PM on March 27, 2017

It's been a bit quiet on the blog front these days, but rest assured we are hard at work on some new projects. In fact, we are just about to submit our presentation to the good people at AMI in advance of the Thin Wall Packaging Conference in Wheeling, IL (May 23-24). In short, we have developed new data sets illustrating the effect of plug material choice on overal material distribution. This isn't entirely novel, but what we've done in this case is link the differences in average minimum thickness to part costs and overall job profitability. In essence, we answer the question, "How much is 0.001" worth?" We're looking forward to presenting the data and getting feedback from our industry peers.
